Having scientists in the school visit has sparked the question: "Where do animals live in the winter?"
This has inspired our current inquiry, Hibernation!
We have spent the past week learning about what hibernation is, which animals hibernate, and where they sleep.
Science Experiment: Lard Mittens! yes that's right, lard mittens! we used the lard mittens to demonstrate to children how a layer of fat can keep an animal warm. which is one reason animals eat and eat before hibernation.
we put ice water in the yellow tub, and asked the children to put one hand in the ice cold water without the mitten, and one in with the mitten. The children discovered the hand in the lard mitten was warm, while the other had was cold. (see photos below)

Drama: Some of the students turned the table in the drama into a bear den!
