Friends And Family BoardWe would like to create a friends and family board in our class. This will allow the children to see the ones they love if they are missing home!
What we need from you is a family photo, and or a photo of a pet! Thank-You for your support! Last day of September! Can you belive it?
We added a new math center today, and the students LOVE it. It incorperates sorting, counting, documenting, number recognition, and quantity. WOW your children love to do art! It is by far the most popular area in our classroom. I am going to put another request for wishlist items, as the children have already gone though a bunch! Wishlist - Paper towel rolls - small Boxes(shoe boxes, tissue boxes, cereal boxes, tin foil boxes) - Washed out yogurt containers - Egg cartons - Tin Foil - Fabric - string - Ribbon - pie plates - Any washed out Recyclable materials Thank-you in advance! What a busy day! Terry fox walk was today, we made it all the way around the school ! We have a new water activity, we added rocks and turtles. The students were very excited!
our L , LA , A and AL combinations are turning up in the children's play, they amaze me! I have added a new Conscious Discipline video on the ConsciousDiscipline page! it is on the power of free will. ENJOY! I believe our apple inquiry is coming to an end, we finished it off with apple printing today! we had some children talking about space....maybe that will be the next big inquiry!
We added some new material to the art area, and behold! masks were created! Mme Leung has added the L sound to our literacy lessons! ask the children to read the A and L, sounds to you. as well as the LA, and AL combinations. Today we played a lunch box game! we pretended to be a food, and then they had to move so snack one side or snack 2 side of the lunch box(carpet) . This was to help teach the children what types of foods are for morning snack foods and which ones are afternoon foods. I have to say at first we had a lunch box full of biscuit au chocolat(cookies!) :) Reminders: Pizza, Milk, and student fees are due Well the childrens interest in apples is still going! We have finished our pommier(apple tree), and added some books about Les Pomme in our Safe Place/reading area.
Feathers were a popular choice today in our art area, they were added to books the children were making! We talked about why birds have feathers, named the colours in french, and counted the feathers. The first sign of fall arrived in our class today. One bright red Maple Leaf that a student brought in from the yard. It is at our science center for the children to investigate! Today the children were very excited to find some helicoper seeds outside. We brought them in and added some to our science center to explore them in detail. We then planted some to see if they would grow!
We were also very busy making leaves for our apple tree( Pommier). We also have a co-op student from Sir Robert Borden High school who will be joining us 4 afternoons a week. Her name is Mme. Katrina! Reminders: Weather is getting colder, please make sure the children have warm clothing. We suggest lots of layers so they have the option if it gets too hot. Just another reminder that toys from home are not allowed in the class(1 small stuffed animal is allowed for rest time) Thank-you to all who have brought in some matirials from our wish list! the children have been creating amazing things with it! I HAVE ADDED TO THE STUDENTS WORK PAGE!!! more to come!!!! Wow September is flying by!
The children were busy today, sharing stories about their weekend, creating at our art table, and practicing the A sound! I put a picture of Monsieur Ourson who in this photo has a broken leg that was put in a cast. I hope you had a fantastic weekend, and we are looking forward to the week ahead! P.S. If you are having trouble coming up with some lunch box ideas, I have updated the Lunch page. You can find it under the more tab, then click on lunches. Happy Friday!!! We continued our light and colour mixing activities. We have some emerging interests, and will keep you posted. Making books is extremely popular at the moment, this is a great way to develop writing skills.
Our monsieur Ourson was being taught the sound A a lot today, I think he almost has it! Have a great weekend! What a busy day!! We started learning the steps to reading in french. The children became the teachers and taught our little bear how to read the A sound.
We then moved to our inquiry play. In the water table children were mixing colours, and describing in french what colour it made. at the science table two boys made up their own science experiment, then recorded their findings! They were trying to see which apple was heaviest. ( see pictures below) We also had the projector out, the children were able to use light to mix colours, and make rainbows. Today we continued with the colour mixing activites, children were able to explore primary colours using paint.
We expanded our apple inquiry on to the science table. Children were able to manipulate, and explore a vairety of different apples. Children weighed the apples, traced the apples, drew the apples, rolled the apples, smelled the apples, and discribed them using both english and french words. French Vocabulary : Pomme = Apple Rouge = Red Vert = Green Jaune = Yellow Petite = Small Gros = Large Lourd = Heavy Ronde = Round Our counting bears were sorted and used as apples again today! They were made into apple crisp, apple sauce, and apple pie. Mmmmmmmmmm |
