Halloween is a BIG topic of conversation in our classroom right now. We have added some new and exciting activities to discover based on this interest!
Our castle in the drama has been converted to a haunted castle, and we are working on a collaborative art project to decorate it. We have potion making with water beads in a sensory table, and goop in the science area. Table top activities include a Halloween graphing game, Halloween book making, and a vocabulary search and find game. It has been an exciting week so far! It helps to ensure that I can spend as much time as possible directly with the students instead of focusing on paperwork and trying to find and contact organizers with late orders. Your help and diligence is greatly appreciated!** EDP FORMS PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EDP FORMS MUST BE DELIVERED DIRECTLY TO YOUR EDP TEACHER BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL. We have a very busy day, and these forms can easily become misplaced during the day as I need to hold on to them until after school. Please bring them when you drop off or pick up your child from EDP so that you can sign in your form. This helps ensure that they have received it and also that your child will have care on the PD days! FDK Team Today we opened up our pumpkins!
Before opening the pumpkins the children documented what colour they thought each one would be on the inside, and estimated how many seeds there would be. Dear parents and guardians,
This is further to our first message and intended to provide additional information. We have lifted secure school and shelter in place at most sites in the District, including Knoxdale, some sites in the downtown area continue to be in a secure school. Our students will remain in school until the end of the regular school day and Extended Day Programs will operate as usual. Buses will run on a regular schedule; delays due to traffic disruption are possible. Students will proceed with their regular dismissal routines. If you need to change the end of day routines, please let us know by calling the school directly (613.828.0010). As always, safety is our first concern. We very much appreciate your support, consideration and understanding throughout the day today. Sincerely, The Knoxdale Team NOTE FROM MME McCLOY If you do need to make alternate arrangements for your child today please e-mail me - [email protected] - I will check e-mail before dismissal today. Merci! On behalf of some colleagues...
Child’s Haven Craft Sale Dear Parents, This year, the students of Knoxdale Public School will be raising money to help support the Child Haven International program (for additional information about this child-focused humanitarian organization, you can find it at: www.childhaven.ca.) To help support this agency, our school will be raising money through the sale of a variety of Halloween crafts and goodies. These crafts include: fabulous bracelets for .50c; bookmarks for .75c; spooky ghost pins for $1.00; spooky fridge magnets for .50c and key chains for $1.00. All crafts were made by our junior craft club. We will also be having an “estimation” contest. All students will be shown two containers which each contain a secret number of candy treats (jelly beans and gummy worms for grade 1 – 6 and gummy bears and gummy worms for JK and SK students). The closest estimate wins the prize! Each estimation ticket is .25c. The Kindergarten students will also be having a separate estimation contest that is more appropriate for their guessing skills. If you would like your child to participate in this fun-filled event, please send your child’s money in a labeled Ziploc bag. The sale itself will begin on Thursday, October 23rd and end on Friday, October 31st. Sales will be taking place during nutrition break where students will be provided with the opportunity to purchase all of the above items. Winners of the estimation contests will be announced on Monday, November 3rd. Sincerely, Coordinators: Lucy Lightbown, Melissa MacIntyre, Darlene Reade, Emilie Desjardins, Marilyn Whitwill Hello everyone! We would like to do a nature walk on Tuesday! We will be going around the school grounds and into the forest in the back. We are looking at fall through the use of our 5 senses (taste will be limited to thinking of the types of food that we eat in fall...). We would love to have some parents join us! Please reply to this e-mail if you are able to join us from 1:30 - 2:30pm (approx.) on Tuesday, October 21st. As we are staying within the limits of the permission form that you signed in September we do not require an additional form, but we do require at least 2 parents. Merci! |
