Today all of our students became biologists in training! Scientist Nancy was in
our class today teaching us all about animals habitats. We discovered why and how beavers make their dams, Salt water vs. fresh water animals, and all the critters you will find living in a tree. We had the opportunity to build a nest, and test out a beaver dam. The children were really excited about the footprint activity! A very big thank-you to all of our parent volunteers!! A Childs imagination is truly an amazing thing to see in action! Part of our role as educators in the FDK program is to spark, and hopefully ignite that imagination.
We gave the children about 20 boxes, Tape, crayons, and some paper plates, then we stood back to see what would happened. What happened next was remarkable! Some of the children worked together to create trains, castles, and busses. Others worked independently and created unicorns, cars, and beds. They communicated with each other, discussed designs, and debated building strategies. We even had the Eiffel tower being built! We put the boxes out during free play for 3 days, and each day the students were even more creative. It was a great The children have been hard at work renovating our dramatic play are.
