Snow, Snow, And more SNOW! our big inquiry right now is SNOW! We are seeing snow in all aspects of the children's play. Next week we will discover how snow is made, and where it comes from. SNOW DAY!!!!!Snow days; a day where the possibilities are endless! What a magical day it was! We spent a lot of time outside tobogganing, building snowmen, and snow forts . We hope everyone had a safe drive in to work!
Happy Monday! SNOW is the topic of the day! The children were all very excited about having snow on the ground this morning.
Our centers this week are: Art: Snow scenes; children will use a variety of materials to create a winter wonderland Science: I see Snow flakes! Children will examine snowflakes using magnifying glasses, then draw what they see. Language: introducing new sounds and sounding out words with letters they already know. Manipulative: Kapla Blocks with patterning blocks added Math: Tens and ones; we are working on larger numbers now 20's and up Finger painting was very popular today! we introduced a book with Kapla block designs in it to the students. The children started to build more complex structures, it was incredible! A group of children were on the carpet making wheels out of our counting blocks. They were seeing how far they could roll them. Mme Leung sat down with them, and they created a target, and a ramp for the wheels. It turned into a great learning experience. One of the students also discovered if you put a mirror in front of our new fighting fish he will spread his fins. We just have to remember not to leave the mirror by the fish bowl.......our poor fish was on high alert for some time :). Wish list:

Our airplane inquiry is fading out, but a new one has emerged! Some children were making planes in the art area, and I asked them where they would like to go on their plane. the answer : "THE NORTH POLE!!" The children started talking about what things they would see at the north pole. So we decided to talk about it as a group. Lots of ideas came from our discussion! The Students decided our dramatic play area should turn in to the North Pole, and so our next inquiry has started! The children have been constructing with Kapla blocks over the past week and a half, their structures are amazing! Welcome Back! We hope you all had a great weekend!
